Purple Hummingbird Co. was created in honor of Kristina Smith’s triplet sister, Alexandra Smith (her third), who passed away from a fentanyl overdose shortly after their 25th birthday in 2022. Approaching three years without her on February 7th, Kristina has turned her pain, anger, and grief into something meaningful—a movement to support those struggling with addiction and mental health.
Alexandra was a sister, a daughter, a mother —bold, strong-willed, feisty, and always fluttering around talking to everyone, much like a hummingbird. With her favorite color being purple, Purple Hummingbird Co. was created in her memory. What started with bold statement apparel, like the “Fuck Fentanyl Dealers” sweatshirts, it has grown into a brand focused on awareness, advocacy, and providing resources for those in need seeking detox and treatment aid. There is so much more to come for Purple Hummingbird Co, and all being bold while achieving the goals to help others.
